A cruise vacation can be an extremely expensive vacation but if you follow these tips you could save money and make your vacation even more special.

1. Board the ship way before you set sail. Although everybody knows that you have to be on the ship 30 minutes before sailing not everybody knows that you can board it quite some time before you sail. Take advantage of all the ships amenities before you even set sail. Eat, drink, and play. You could even have a sleep in your cabin. Why sit around for hours in the port where there is usually very little to do.

2. Eat in the dining room rather than the buffet. It can sometimes feel a bit like feeding time at the zoo. The dining room is a welcome break from standing in line for your food. There is not as much choice but it can be a lot more civilized and the food will be of just the same high standard and you will be waited on for a change.

3. The popular classes will have a surcharge that you may not be prepared for but there are plenty of ways to keep in shape aboard the ship. The ship is huge, even covering these large distances on foot can burn a few hundred calories. For the more enthusiastic passenger there may be a running track around the top deck which provides lovely ocean views while you have a run or a brisk walk.

4. Most ships have a great social scene. Take advantage of it and try to join in wherever you can. Everything from art auctions to chess to wine tasting events will be on offer. The ship is specifically designed to be a sociable environment so even if you are traveling alone there is no need to be alone, get out of your cabin and have some fun! If non of that seems great then there's always the ship spa.

5. Be prepared to tip. The average ship worker gets paid peanuts and they do rely on their tips to survive. Tip anybody who gives you a service. This includes everyone, waiters, room service etc.

6. There are usually additional charges for soft drinks and alcohol but the juice stations and soft serve ice cream machines are included. Take advantage of the limitless juice stations, it will save you dollars.

7. You r daily bulletin will show the days drinks specials, these can be a great deal but only if you don't also order the souvenir that usually comes with it.

8. Room service is available 24 hrs a day. There will not be an extra charge for it but remember to tip!

9. There is more than one pool on the ship. If your pool is too busy, the other ones will be the opposite. Hunt the ship for a pool that is the right level for you. You want to be able to relax.

10. Making telephone calls on board is very expensive. It is much cheaper to use the Internet café and email your friends and family....Even cheaper is to wait until you are in port and find an Internet café.

11. Try to book your shore excursions before you leave home, it will be much cheaper.

For a very large group they may even throw you your own cocktail party. You will probably still have to pay the taxes and maybe a small fee but the rest of the room price will be comped.

Another way to cruise for free is as a lecturer. You lecture on your subject a few times a day and the rest of the time you are free to enjoy the cruise experience. You get to talk about something you love and get rewarded for it on top of it.

If you are a doctor or nurse,you may also be in luck as these types of professionals are in high in demand. You would be expected to work a few hours in the on board clinic and be there for emergencies but the rest of the time is yours to spend as you wish.

Enjoy the shows, the casinos and the pool. Go for a spa treatment, work out in the gym or take a class. Cruising is fun and getting part or all of your fare comped is even better.

· Many budget properties offer excellent access, so seek them out whenever possible. For example, Microtel gets consistently high marks for access, as all of their properties are constructed from the ground up with access in mind.

· Consider staying in a hostel to trim your lodging costs. Although previously only an option for young travelers and backpackers, today hostels welcome everyone. Many hostels are wheelchair-accessible, and some even have private rooms.

· For a zero cost lodging bill, consider a home exchange. It provides free admission to all national parks and national monuments, and offers a 50% discount at all national park campgrounds. It's available at any national park entrance.

· Be on the lookout for free cell phone and MP3 tours. You can take these tours at your own pace, and most cover downtown areas that are largely accessible. Many Convention and Visitors Bureaus (CVBs) have them available as a free download on their websites.

· Many factories offer free or low cost tours with lots of samples and other fun freebies. A good resource for searching out accessible factory tours is Watch It Made In The USA, by Karen Axelrod and Bruce Brumberg. This detailed volume contains information on over 300 factory tours across the US.

· Last but not least, don't forget about cruising, as it's a very accessible vacation choice. To save a little money, get a group of friends together and book as a group. Swindon Golfing & Hotels

I have been visiting many cities in UK due to my passion for traveling and discovering different places. When my friends and I travel, we make sure that we go to different golf courses and play just to relax from the stress we get from work. During the course of my travels, I have experienced staying in different kinds of hotels and inns. There are some that provided me with great service and comfortable stay. There are some that I would definitely not enter again. Among the different cities we've been to, Swindon was our favorite town. There are many hotels wherein you could book a reservation when you visit Swindon, but there are three hotels that we frequent most often. These are also my personal favorites:

Blunsdon House Hotel

Blundson House Hotel is a four star premier hotel which houses 116 beautifully decorated and furnished suites within its main building and pavilion. It is located in Blundson which is 10 minutes away from junction 15 of M4 motorway. It has a parking lot that could accommodate up to 300 cars. Two different kinds of restaurants are also in this hotel, one having an informal and lively atmosphere, Christies and a fine dining restaurant, Nichols. Both offer delectable dishes, specially selected champagnes and wines, and desserts with prices that are worth every value of your money. Drinking a couple of cocktails on their bars at night could also be an option. You could relax in their suites with your choice of either King or Queen Beds, complete with tea and coffee making facilities, mini bar, trouser press, LCD TV, hi speed internet access, power shower, bathrobe, towels, and other complimentary toiletries. Wanting a spacious room complete with walk in shower, separate bath, and balcony overlooking the golf course? Then you could try their Pavilion Executive rooms. Various leisure facilities are present; you won't get bored on your stay. For golf enthusiasts, the hotel has a 9 hole, par 3 golf course and a one mile woodland walk where in you could practice your swings. Town center and railway is only 15 minutes drive from this hotel, you could reach local attractions and outlet stores easily.

Whatley Manor

Whatley Manor is a beautifully restored Cotswold Manor House situated 8 miles from junction 17 of the M4. It has beautiful landscaped gardens, peaceful open countryside, 15 luxurious rooms and 8 suites that will make you feel like a king or queen during your stay. The hotel's restaurant is the renowned "The Dining Room" that boasts classic French Cuisine with a modern interpretation. Their rooms are designed individually and with high standards. They also offer many leisure facilities such as hydro pool, salt scrub showers, and thermal cabins. Several golf courses and other local attractions are within minutes of drive away from the hotel.

Ivy Hotel

Ivy Hotel is a stylish and traditionally designed hotel. The Victorian feel and decorations remained on its main building but it also has a new wing that houses 20 rooms connected by a naturally styled conservatory. It is situated in the village of Wroughton. Each room has antique furnishing and is recently refurbished to provide the guests with powerful showers, luxury toiletries, bathrobes, free wi-fi broadband, and candles. The hotel does not have leisure facilities on-site but golf courses, swimming pools, leisure centers as well as outlet depots and museums are just 10-15 minutes drive from the hotel.
